Short rant about the election yesterday.

I apologize in advance for a mini-rant but there are times where I hate the way stories in America get reported with no nuance.  The election yesterday was not a referendum on Obama.  It was a referendum on the NJ economy and the fact that Cornize was clueless on what to do about it.  It was a referendum on the budget and transportation crisis in VA.  It was not a referendum on Obama.  If I see one more story - especially a story with no facts or data to support the conclusion in any way - that makes this claim I am going to scream.

By the way, I don't think the results in upstate NY are a referendum on the Republicans anymore than VA and NJ were referendums on Obama.  This is just proof that even in upstate NY they don't like nut jobs.  Good for them.

While I am ranting I should add that just once I would like them to count all of the ballots from a significant race in WA on election night.  Hell, I will take within 24 hrs of the election being over.  They are saying it will be days before we know who the mayor of Seattle is.  Seriously people, this isn't that hard.

  2. Very controlled mini-rant!

I totally agree that we should know the results of our election that night. I mean, I work for the City and had to suffer through a week of not knowing who the new head honcho would be! I don't blame the elections staff though; whatever County law that says we have until Tuesday to POSTMARK our ballots needs to be changed (even though that would affect my voting timeline personally). If you want to put an initiative together to make that happen, I'll be the first to sign :)
